Between mudflats and dunes

Badhotel Bruin

Discover what living on an island is like on Vlieland. Between the mudflats and the dunes, you will find Badhotel Bruin: the oldest hotel on the island with a 125-year history. The original building from 1897 and the characteristic interior would almost tempt you to forego a walk on the beach. The hotel has spacious and bright rooms (standard, luxury, family or apartments) and a wellness and beauty salon, complete with swimming spa, steam cabin and sauna. Your dog is welcome to relax on its own Fatboy bean bag in one of the apartments. For the colder seasons, there is no shortage of literature for an easy afternoon by the fireplace or just a cosy get-together at Café Bruintje with a glass of wine or beer. In the evening, you can enjoy an atmospheric dinner in restaurant Bravoure.

Products from the local area

Restaurant Bravoure

In the French-Dutch kitchen of Bravoure Restaurant, chef Raymond Venmant mainly sources local produce. Being on an island, fresh fish is an important part of the menu. For meat lovers, there is a wide choice of beautifully matured beef from Belgium. The dishes are combined with wines from the hotel’s wine cellar, the largest in the Northern Region. Do you prefer to eat in a private setting? Then reserve the Captain’s Room, an intimate area with its own fireplace and sofa. At the front of Badhotel Bruin, overlooking the Dorpsstraat, is a spacious terrace. If you prefer peace and quiet, there is a pleasant green courtyard garden behind Badhotel Bruin. From there you have a view of the many rustic gables for which Vlieland is so well known.

Relax after a walk along the beach

Badhotel Bruin Wellness

After a day of walking along the beach of Vlieland, you can relax and recharge in the Wellness of Badhotel Bruin. The wellness complex can be found in the garden of the hotel, fully equipped with a swimming spa, steam cabin, sauna and delicious treatments or massages in the beauty salon. The wellness area can be reserved privately and in the morning there is a free swimming hour for the children.

Reviews

"Contemporary and exciting dishes are served at Restaurant Bravoure. Many vegetarian and vegan creations, very successful. Wonderful start of pumpkin with winter carrots, forest carrots, orange, pumpkin seeds and chutney. Another beautiful combination is the ajo blanco with white grape, green tomato, kohlrabi, sea vegetable and verbena, with a few short-fried scallops as a supplement. No need to worry for meat lovers, because they are also spoiled."

Gault & Millau

"At Badhotel Bruin in the Dorpsstraat, you will find charming basic rooms, luxury suites, cosy family rooms, the Library suite and spacious appartments. Top chef Raymond Venmans of restaurant Bravoure offers his guests daily gastronomic surprises and for those who want to go healthier the next day, a sugar-free high tea can be arranged. After a day outdoors, unwind in the hotel's intimate Wellness area. On Vlieland you can enjoy just a little bit more of the Netherlands."
