Château Wittem is a place where old charm and modern fine dining come together. The Holy Roman Emperor Charles V stayed here, as did William of Orange. The Wilden family transformed this historic castle into a contemporary boutique hotel with an excellent restaurant. From the 18th century to the 1950s, the castle was the residence of the Merckelbach family, and they were the last to use it as a home. The atmosphere of the decor in the 12 guestrooms is ‘French chic’ and boast classic elegance. Each room has a name and a story related to important figures in the castle’s long history, which goes back to 1125. Restaurant Julemont is named after knight Winand van Julemont, who moved into the chateau around 1200. Chef Guido Braeken brings energy, new ideas and top gastronomy to Wittem. The restaurant serves French classics and regional favourites. Wittem is located between Maastricht and Aachen, but Belgium is also just around the corner.
Die Sonne Frankenberg
Die Sonne Frankenberg in the city of Frankenberg (Eder) is in the fairytale region Ederbergland, the homeland of the brothers Grimm, not far from National Parc Kellerwald-Edersee. The hotel is part of meticulously restored half-timbered houses, with the 500-year-old city hall at the centre. The bright rooms and suites of this historic hotel have a charming and mediterranean feel to them. De Kromme Watergang
This part of Zeeland, Zeeuws-Vlaanderen is famed for its hospitality and tasty food and drink, and De Kromme Watergang is no exception. This restaurant with its unique rooms is located just behind the Schelde dikes. Owners Edwin and Blanche Vinke run an internationally acclaimed restaurant offering a taste of Zeeland. The Chef sources only the best local produce. Freshly caught fish comes in daily from Breskens. The restaurant’s huge kitchen garden, De Zilte Hof, is the other important source of ingredients. Three of the four suites are located in a new condo complex in Breskens harbour. Behind the dunes of Breskens you will find beautiful beaches overlooking the Westerschelde. The Belgian seaside resort of Knokke is well within reach.
Espace Medissey / l'Eau Vive
In the green heart of the Belgian Ardennes, you will find hotel Espace Medissey, in the tiny hamlet of Bois de Villers. Hotel TwentySeven, a modern, exceptionally warm, iconic suite hotel, creates the illusion of a dream in timeless surroundings. Hotel Villa Ruimzicht
The monumental building of Villa Ruimzicht was built in 1853 and became property of the Christelijke Philantropische Inrichtingen (Christian Philanthropic Institutions) in 1868 and served as a training institute for ministers. The building has been completely transformed into a 4-star hotel, with spacious guest rooms decorated in mainly white tones, two restaurants, a bar and a cooking studio. Hotel Villa Ruimzicht is surrounded by its own park with unusual trees. There is a 140-year-old Sequoia tree and several lawns. There is a large terrace and several verandas. When the weather is nice, breakfast, lunch or dinner is served here.

The interior of Hotel PURS, with its 11 guestrooms, is the work of the world-famous Belgian designer Axel Vervoordt. With his minimalist approach, he has created timeless spaces with a deep feeling for history. The 17th-century chancellery was built by the prelate of Cologne. All the classic elements, from the slate roofs to the richly decorated plaster ceilings and grand windows, have not only been preserved, but have also gained new stylistic relevance thanks to Vervoordt’s masterful upgrade. If you like good food, wine and culture, you’ll love this wonderful old town on the Rhine. Andernach has rapidly developed into a culinary paradise, with a wide choice of restaurants.
Landgoed Lauswolt and the Michelin-awarded restaurant De Heeren van Harinxma are an ultimate place of pilgrimage for bon vivants and are renowned for its relaxed atmosphere. Here, in the heart of Friesland, you have nature, top gastronomy and a variety of top facilities at your fingertips. The Golf Course of Golf & Country Club Lauswolt meanders pleasantly over the estate. Ultimate relaxation can be found in the health & spa. The dishes of chef Arjan Bisschop in the restaurant De Heeren van Harinxma are based on a classical style and prepared with the most beautiful Frisian seasonal products, whether or not from their own vegetable garden. De Heeren van Harinxma is the only restaurant in Friesland with a Michelin star. The second restaurant, Bistro Nijeholt (Bib Gourmand), brims with conviviality and tempts with catchy dishes and wines. The estate has everything in-house and invites to be discovered.
Landhuishotel De Bloemenbeek
Landhuishotel De Bloemenbeek is on a 12 acre estate on the rippling brook Bloemenbeek in the gently sloping Dinkel valley. A tasteful boutique hotel with history, style and allure. Most suites have their own terrace with a view of the theatrical landscape. Five suites are deemed ‘Grand’ as they have - in addition to sleeping quarters - a magnificent living area with sofa, armchairs and writing desks. The Manor Hotel’s grounds include a beautifully laid out restaurant garden and terraces, a romantic inner courtyard bordered by plane trees, a kitchen garden, environmental-friendly ornamental ponds, works of art and mature fruit trees. You will also find beehives from local beekeepers on the estate.
Le Cor de Chasse
In the forested hills and valleys of the Ourthe and Aisne region lies the authentic village Wéris. Here you will find Le Cor de Chasse, a veritable family hotel in a manor farm from 1681. The interior is contemporary, luxurious and in harmony with the history of the building. The standard rooms are located in the former sheep barn, the suites with private terrace are in the central wing. Modern cuisine is at the heart of the one-star restaurant. L'air du temps
Chef Sang-Hoon Degeimbre is a true cosmopolitan. He was born in Korea, studied pharmacy, Latin and Greek in Belgium and then became a sommelier and Star Chef. He knows how to distinguish flavours like no other. All this led to his apotheosis: L’Air du temps. Located in a beautiful white farmstead built around a square courtyard in the fields of Liernu you will find this two Michelin starred restaurant with 11 bedrooms. Not only does the restaurant have two stars but was also awarded a green Michelin star. Taste, technique, an excellent sense of style and knowledge of outstanding regional produce make L’Air du temps what it is today: a temple of taste. The restaurant is an architectural tour de force, with wood and glass as the prevailing theme. The panoramic view of the garden brings nature to your table.
La Table de Maxime Hôtel & Restaurant
Nestled in the heart of the Belgian Ardennes lies the hamlet Our, taking its name from the little river that flows through it. The village has only some 30 granite houses and the two small hotels of Maxime Collard. La Table de Maxime is in a renovated manor house. The modern interior combines authentic details harmoniously resulting in a superb balance between classic and modern. A stone’s-throw from La Table de Maxime is Maxime’s other hotel – La Fabrique du pré Maho (the factory on Mr. Maho’s meadow). The modern five-storey building has four rooms built into the hill.
Maiensässhotel Guarda Val
Hotel Guarda Val, in the Lenzerheide region in the canton of Graubünden (Grisons), is set among Alpine pastures, or Maiensässen, at an altitude of 1,600 meters. The hotel, which actually incorporates an entire village, consists of eleven cabins and stables, some of which are 300 years old. The interior of each of the 50 rooms is unique, blending traditional Alpine design and contemporary comfort. The use of sun-weathered wood in the rooms and suites reflects the close connection with nature. You can experience true Alpine relaxation in a hot tub or unwind in one of the hay beds with views of the valley.
When the guilder was still legal tender in the Netherlands, the maker of the currency - JOH. Enschedé - was named on all bank notes. The building in which Hotel Restaurant ML is housed was formerly the Enschedé family home. For centuries the printing-office and type foundry were also active there. Among other things, the typefaces with which the notes were printed, were made here. During the remodelling, the architect successfully managed to preserve the authenticity of this historic building whilst at the same time creating a special hotel. The rooms are stylish and modern. Some still have original decorations and ornaments. The hotel is situated in the centre of Haarlem, on the beautiful, authentic Klokhuisplein.
OAXEN Krog & Slip
Years ago, the renowned Swedish Chef Magnus Ek and his wife Agneta Green left the remote island of Oaxen for Stockholm. Today, a visit to Oaxen Krog & Slip in Stockholm, combined with an overnight stay on board De Prince Van Orangiën, is a must for lovers of Scandinavian cuisine. Situated on the water front at the former shipyard on the island of Djurgården, Oaxen Krog is the jewel of the Oaxen trilogy. Stripped of superfluous detail or finery, the restaurant is all about food, diners and creativity. Oaxen Slip, next to an old slipway, is a perfect example of a Nordic bistro. Large windows let in plenty of light, model boats hang from the ceiling, and there is plenty of fresh fish on the menu.
Reber's Pflug, Restaurant mit Hotel
Reber’s Pflug is located in a farmhouse from 1805. The charm of the building’s past with the elegant, modern interior create a sense of well-being. Reber’s Pflug is only a 10 minute walk from Schwäbisch Hall town centre, The small historic town is surrounded by idyllic lush greenery. The staff is remarkably pleasant: not too obtrusive and always friendly and helpful. The gently undulating landscape with valleys and rivers around Schwäbisch Hall, is the perfect setting for outdoor pursuits.
Merlet lies at the edge of the pleasant village of Schoorl, surrounded by the widest area of sand dunes in the Netherlands. You can explore the picturesque dunes, woodlands and beach from the hotel. This unique hotel is now run by a dynamic second generation of the Bourgonje family. All the luxurious rooms have balconies, and in the souterrain you will find a heated swimming pool, as well as a spa and beauty salon, sauna, steam room and fitness area. Merlet’s culinary heart is its completely restyled Michelin-starred restaurant. Diners delight in the dishes created by Jonathan Zandbergen and served in an interior by designer John Breed - you can see the chef and his team at work in the open kitchen. The menu changes along with the seasons and offers classic and inventive dishes. Picnics and walks with a forest ranger are available on request and there are countless cycle paths and bridleways through the pine woods that cover the dunes.
Once you have had a meal on the terrace of Schloss Eberstein you will realise: this is a unique place. The views over the Murgtal and the Black Forest are unforgettable and will inspire you to go for long walks or bicycle rides or a stroll through the historic town of Gernsbach.
On the shores of the river Maas in Limburg lies the idyllic village of Dilsen-Stokkem. Alex and Marianne Clevers renovated old chaplain’s residence, built in 1734, to make their dream come true in transforming it into a restaurant and hotel. Meticulously restored, the building’s history was fully preserved, including the age-old mantelpieces and vaulted ceilings. At the rear of the restaurant you will find Vivendum's terrace which has been awarded as the most beautiful terrace in Belgium by Gault & Millau.
Steinheuers Hotel Restaurant
Hans Stefan Steinheuer’s Restaurant is in Germany’s Top-10 restaurants. Conoisseurs consider it one of the best in the world. The renowned top chef defines his own culinary art as follows: ‘I love bringing things together that are made for each other’. For Steinheuer the best products are those that find their way most quickly from origin to kitchen. Chef Steinheuer has a profound love for his own region so it is not surprising that regional produce are key ingredients for his cuisine.
On a tributary of the Mosel river, between the vineyards of the Mosel and the Saar-Ruwer, you will find RÜSSELs Landhaus. For wine lovers this romantic valley of the river Dhron is a wonderful place. The varied surroundings feature woodlands and meadows, as well as vineyards are well worth a visit. The individually designed rooms and suites in this beautiful country house are rustic, modern or themed, such as a Mediterranean. Each suite has a large, luxurious bathroom with bathtub. The hotel’s large garden at the rear is at the edge of the forest. Relaxing in one of the loungers, you are sure to enjoy the sun and lovely scenery.
Die Hirschgasse Heidelberg
Within the walls of this monumental building in Heidelberg, statesman Otto von Bismarck once raised his sword as a student and Mark Twain found inspiration for his book "A Tramp Abroad". There are still tangible reminders of the generous history of this special establishment, especially in the hotel's two restaurants.
De Nederlanden Restaurant & Boutique Hotel
This small boutique hotel is located in a historical building from 1680, on the banks of the river Vecht. Located in Vreeland, a small idyllic town centrally located between Amsterdam and Utrecht. Spend the night in one of the 11 minimalist designed rooms and suites that are inspired by Scandinavian and Japanese style. In the restaurant you can enjoy culinary creations at Michelin star level by Wilco Berends, meanwhile his wife Caroline Berends runs the hotel and restaurant. In the summer we recommend to take a dip in the river Vecht, use the swimming ladder provided by De Nederlanden to easily get in and out of the water.
Located along the dike, in the watery landscape between the Maas and Waal rivers, lies Flicka. Thomas and Merlijn made their dreams come true when opening Flicka with great success. Flicka is Swedish for girl. This name was chosen because of the love Thomas has for his three girls: his daughters and his wife Merlijn. Flicka's top priority is their guests experience. The atmospheric suites and the restaurant have been decorated by Merlijn, the hostess. Thomas and Merlijn are a true dream team. While Thomas, being a perfectionist, is completely focussed on his cuisine, Merlijn makes sure that the guests are pampered.
