Dutch history meets top cuisine
Suitehotel Posthoorn
In the small historic town of Monnickendam you will find Suitehotel & Restaurant Posthoorn. Napoleon Bonaparte stayed at this stately yet hospitable house in 1697. Upon entering this national monument building, you immediately sense the riches and opulence of the golden age. The small-scale hotel, only 12 km from Amsterdam, has luxurious suites and rooms where comfort and well-being are priorities. The owner, Marc Boeljon, was inspired by the most beautiful boutique hotels in Europe. Posthoorn’s restaurant is a culinary hotspot. The Head Chef combines classic French cuisine with ingredients from all over the world in a bold distinctive touch. For those who look for tranquility and natural wetlands, but with a big city within reach, Posthoorn is ideally located.
Dulinary indulgences
Restaurant Posthoorn
Suitehotel Posthoorn has its own restaurant that offers the same high quality as the hotel. The restaurant which is situated on the first floor, is a culinary hotspot. The restaurant is decorated in a quiet contemporary classical style. Private dining is possible in the historical Swaerte Brand room. De Posthoorn has a sheltered monumental town garden with sunny spots and shady areas. Lunch or dinner can be served on the partially covered and heated terrace.
KEY FEATURES AND SERVICES
REVIEWS
"In this stately building, you can not only eat well, but also stay on stand. We are spoiled with artful amuses and beautifully served dishes, including perfectly cooked cod, smoked eel and (smoked!) yoghurt. Then deliciously braised veal with a powerful Stroganoff gravy. For dessert, a fresh lemon tartlet with a crunchy burnt sugar coating and blood orange. The accompanying wines are chosen with care and explained with enthusiasm. In this restaurant, a great attention to detail is guaranteed. "

"Dinner at Posthoorn is akin to immersing yourself in years of history as this chic restaurant occupying two 17C buildings has been popular with gourmets since 1881. Here, chef Jeroen Bavelaar respects its history while showcasing his full creativity."
