Gastronomic stardom in the Limburg Hills
Château Wittem
Château Wittem is a place where old charm and modern fine dining come together. The Holy Roman Emperor Charles V stayed here, as did William of Orange. The Wilden family transformed this historic castle into a contemporary boutique hotel with an excellent restaurant. From the 18th century to the 1950s, the castle was the residence of the Merckelbach family, and they were the last to use it as a home. The atmosphere of the decor in the 12 guestrooms is ‘French chic’ and boast classic elegance. Each room has a name and a story related to important figures in the castle’s long history, which goes back to 1125. Restaurant Julemont is named after knight Winand van Julemont, who moved into the chateau around 1200. Chef Guido Braeken brings energy, new ideas and top gastronomy to Wittem. The restaurant serves French classics and regional favourites. Wittem is located between Maastricht and Aachen, but Belgium is also just around the corner.

Reviews
"Beautifully located restaurant in a historical monument whose roots go back to the Middle Ages and which has recently been completely renovated as a boutique hotel. Chef Guido Braeken, who worked with Ralf Berendsen as sous-chef, brings a contemporary cuisine with a clear focus on noble ingredients. A chef with great potential! In addition to the splendid meal, sommelier Philipp Bock puts forward an exclusive wine list with which he compliments every dish. Not to be missed."
