PEACE, NATURE AND HOSPITALITY BY THE SEA

Grand Hotel Beatrix

You drive into the picturesque coastal village of Huisduinen and immediately feel you're somewhere different. No shopping streets, no crowds, no industry. Only pure sea air, endless views, and a village that still feels the way it should. Grand Hotel Beatrix is located here, on the edge where the North Sea and the Wadden Sea meet – a place that's not just a hotel, but a gateway to a different pace. Step inside and you're welcomed by a warmth that feels like coming home. The 53 rooms and suites exude stylish simplicity – no excess, no fuss, but every detail thoughtfully considered. From your window, you look out over the water, and in the evening, you hear only the sea. The interior is contemporary and comfortable, with natural materials that suit the surroundings. Every room invites you to stay, not to quickly move on. Huisduinen is a hidden gem for those who love peace, nature, and authentic hospitality. The beach is just a stone's throw away, dunes, forests, and polders surround the village, yet it remains quiet and unspoiled. Cyclists, hikers, beachgoers, nature lovers, and peace seekers find their ideal base here. Warm weather? The beach awaits, and Huisduinen offers the most sunshine hours in the Netherlands almost every year. Less warm? Come walk and feel the wind on the dike. Sporty? Grab a hotel bike to the bulb fields or use the wellness center with indoor pool, sauna, steam room, squash, and a very modern, extensive gym. Culture lover? Fort Kijkduin is within walking distance. And foodie? The hotel offers two culinary options: a gastronomic restaurant and an accessible bar & bistro. You don't even need to leave the hotel.

GASTRONOMIC REFINEMENT WITH SEA VIEWS

RESTAURANT C'EST LA VIE

On the top, 'hidden' floor of the hotel lies gastronomic restaurant C'est la vie – a place where craftsmanship, passion, and authenticity come together in a refined culinary experience with sea views. Here, everything revolves around pure flavors, regional ingredients, and craftsmanship you taste in every detail. Away from the crowds, C'est la vie forms an intimate, culinary world of its own. Chef de Cuisine Raymond van Veen uses the sea and the Wadden area as his main inspiration and translates this into modern French dishes with local accents. Fresh regional products, seasonal menus, and a focus on purity – that's what C'est la vie stands for. The atmosphere is serene and intimate, the interior timeless and elegant, with panoramic views over the sea. The service is personal and attentive, the wine pairings carefully composed by maître and sommelier Demi Bakker. An evening at C'est la vie is not just a dinner, but a culinary journey through the season. The restaurant has been awarded 13.5 points in Gault&Millau, a 9+ "over de tong" in the Noordhollands Dagblad, and is affiliated with Eurotoques Nederland. In 2025, the restaurant won the Euro-Toques Nederland Restaurant Prize for both the Hospitality Award and the Entree Magazine Press Award.

INDULGENT ENJOYMENT IN A WARM LIVING ROOM

BAR & BISTRO MEATCLUB

At Meatclub, it's all about indulgent enjoyment in a relaxed and informal atmosphere. The bar & bistro feels like a warm living room by the sea – a place where locals, hotel guests, and friends come together for good food, a craft beer, or a glass of wine. The kitchen is bold and honest, with classics in a modern jacket. Chef Raymond Hendriks prepares everything with fresh products and serves without fuss – just good food, as it should be. The house specialty? The medium-rare grilled ribeye steak with sea salt (and at most a bit of herb butter). The meat naturally comes from the local butcher atelier of the Duyzer brothers, who hold sustainability and animal welfare in high regard. The atmosphere is relaxed and accessible, perfect for an informal lunch, an evening out with friends, or just a good glass of wine at the bar. Meatclub isn't fine dining, but it is fine food – and that makes the difference.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE REGION

Grand Hotel Beatrix is located on the edge of North Holland, where the North Sea and the Wadden Sea meet – a geographical rarity you feel in every gust of wind. From the hotel, you look out on centuries of history: Fort Kijkduin stands on the dune, built by Napoleon in 1811, and the Lange Jaap lighthouse has been watching over the coast for more than 150 years. The surroundings are a mix of pure nature – expansive dunes, bulb fields, and forests – without mass tourism. Texel is just a ten-minute drive away, Den Helder with its Navy Museum around the corner, and cities like Amsterdam are within reach.

Reviews

C'est la vie, located on the third floor of Grand Hotel Beatrix in Huisduinen, offers a beautiful view over the sea that beautifully frames the dining experience. The restaurant exudes a refined ambiance and presents a spring menu that includes various seasonal flavors. Texel lamb is perfectly cooked and comes with very flavorful asparagus and broad beans. Dessert of strawberries, yogurt, and rhubarb provides a refreshing finish with a fine balance between sweet and sour. With its unique location and beautiful sea view, C'est la vie remains a special place to dine.
