Wine and timeless pleasures
Meisenheimer Hof
The tiny village of Meisenheim has been left unscathed by Europe’s conflicts, and the historic buildings are beautifully preserved. This wine hotel in Baroque style has been welcoming guests since 1699. A number of comfortable guestrooms are named after famous local vineyards or historical figures who have played a role in Meisenheim’s history. The bar in the atmospheric vaulted cellar, serving a wide selection of gins, tonics and whiskies, is well worth a visit. Chef and host Markus Pape, a Jeunes Restaurateur member, remains down-to-earth despite having spent years learning from the best chefs in the country. You can follow one of his cookery courses at Kochhaus Nicolas Appert. Café Meisentörtchen serves its own delicious house-made patisserie.
