Hotel ML

Culture, history and cuisine

Hotel ML

When the guilder was still legal tender in the Netherlands, the maker of the currency - JOH. Enschedé - was named on all bank notes. The building in which Hotel Restaurant ML is housed was formerly the Enschedé family home. For centuries the printing-office and type foundry were also active there. Among other things, the typefaces with which the notes were printed, were made here. During the remodelling, the architect successfully managed to preserve the authenticity of this historic building whilst at the same time creating a special hotel. The rooms are stylish and modern. Some still have original decorations and ornaments. The hotel is situated in the centre of Haarlem on the beautiful, authentic Klokhuisplein.

Culinary sensations

Restaurant ML, Bistro ML & Bar Nous

Making a feast out of every dinner that’s the point at the restaurant. The restaurant is partly situated in the old inner court of the former Joh. Enschedé premises and partly in the old style rooms. With dedication and a great deal of enjoyment chef Mark Gratama and his team prepare a surprising five- or six-courses menu. In addition there are seasonal dishes. And of course you can choose very beautiful wines. The restaurant also caters in a separate room, for private dinner parties. At Bistro ML you can visit any time of the day for breakfast, a cup of coffee, a glass of wine or for dinner. The bistro is accessible and stylish. ML also has a bar, Bar Nous, where you can enjoy a drink.

REVIEWS

"Mark and Liane Gratama's restaurant is housed in an imposing national monument, right in the centre of Haarlem. The modern decor combines vintage and chic. The Chef's Bar, next to the open kitchen, is the place to see the passionate chef at work."

Michelin*

"Next to St Bavo's church is the national monument that houses ML. As soon as you walk towards the hotel, you notice the sunny terrace. When the weather is nice, it is a great place to be, as it is inside. They have courage in the kitchen here. The flavours of the dishes are very pronounced and appealing."
