The transformation of STAATS is the result of a close collaboration between two passionate minds. Interior designer Michel Ruijgrok, founder of Design Bureau ESTIDA, brought his bold creative vision to life within the walls of the former school. With a love for collecting and a talent for combining vintage pieces with rich textures and unexpected design choices, he made each space feel curated, soulful, and full of personality. But STAATS wouldn’t be what it is today without Claudia van den Berg, co-owner and the driving force behind the hotel’s spirit of hospitality. With her warm presence, sharp intuition, and unwavering dedication to quality and guest experience, Claudia ensures that every stay feels personal and memorable. Her belief in combining luxury with heartfelt, informal service is woven into the DNA of the hotel. Together, Michel and Claudia have created something truly special: an environment that’s both inspiring and welcoming, refined yet relaxed.
