MOMA1890 Boutique Hotel

A home with soul in the heart of Munich

MOMA1890 Boutique Hotel

Located in the charming French Quarter of Haidhausen, the MOMA1890 is a boutique hotel where history and contemporary design meet seamlessly. The listed Art Nouveau building from 1890 was originally opened by Xaver Kroisi, the grandfather of today’s owners. Today, it is run by Maximilian and Moritz Seidel, now in its fourth generation, who continue a family tradition shaped by authentic hospitality and meaningful design. For the Seidel brothers, luxury doesn’t mean more, but better: quality instead of opulence, sustainability instead of short-lived trends. Each of the 51 rooms is individually designed and features original pieces by iconic designers such as Charles Eames or Le Corbusier. Historic architecture meets modern comfort and carefully curated, sustainable details — from natural skincare products to the thoughtfully designed honor bar that replaces energy-intensive minibars. “For travelers who appreciate authenticity, MOMA1890 doesn’t feel like an anonymous hotel stay, but like a temporary home,” say Maximilian and Moritz Seidel. “Our idea of luxury is honest, understated, and always focused on people.”

Breakfast with character and conscious hospitality

Breakfast & Honor Bar

Mornings at the MOMA1890 Boutique Hotel begin in a relaxed and laid-back atmosphere. In the breakfast area, guests are welcomed with a selection of regional products, carefully curated and prepared fresh each day. Bread from a local bakery, seasonal fruits and vegetables, fine cheeses and cold cuts, homemade Bircher muesli, high-quality teas, and freshly brewed coffee set the tone: honest, high-quality, thoughtfully chosen. This mindset continues in the MOMA Lounge. Instead of minibars in the rooms, MOMA1890 offers a central honor bar that guests can use freely and sustainably - a concept built on trust and designed to reduce unnecessary resource use.

Architecture and hospitality as a way of life

Design that serves people

Each of the 51 rooms designed by the architect Kurt Seidel, are furnished with original designer furniture, sustainable materials, and attention to detail. Raised in an architect's household, Max and Moritz Seidel follow the principle form follows function – the belief that architecture should serve people. No staged styling or trendy interiors, but legendary design classics that tell a story. From iconic chairs to timeless lighting: each piece is carefully selected to create tranquility and warmth. The result is a stay where historic architecture and contemporary comfort blend seamlessly. The high ceilings and authentic details of the art nouveau building provide the backdrop, while modern amenities and thoughtfully chosen furniture ensure contemporary comfort. For you, this means a room where every detail is right – where you immediately feel at ease and surrounded by craftsmanship and beauty. MOMA1890 Boutique Hotel proves that good design doesn't need to stand out to make an impression.
