In the heart of the Stauferland
Burghotel Staufeneck
High above Salach, overlooking the Filstal valley and the Swabian Alb, Burghotel Staufeneck combines medieval history with modern five-star superior luxury. The estate surrounding the 11th-century castle has been lovingly restored and developed by the Schurr & Straubinger families, who now run the hotel in its fourth generation. The 43 stylish rooms, suites and apartments – including the historic spaces in the Anselm-Schott-Haus – offer an elegant home away from home. The hotel is managed on an intimate and personal scale, with around 80 dedicated staff members who focus on warm, attentive service. Its peaceful location in the heart of the Stauferland region makes it ideal for hiking, cycling, or simply relaxing – yet Stuttgart is just 45 minutes away. Whether you're planning a romantic weekend, a wedding, a business trip or a short escape: every special moment here begins with a heartfelt welcome and a breathtaking view.
Culinary excellence, course by course
Gourmetrestaurant “fine dining RS”
An evening at gourmet restaurant fine dining RS is more than just dinner – it’s a culinary experience where flavour, technique and storytelling come together. Chefs Markus Waibel and Dominik Holl merge global influences with modern crossover techniques, creating a multi-sensory journey. With a strong focus on high-quality ingredients, they highlight a wide range of flavours – from fresh acidity to bold, smoky notes. Fish often plays the leading role in the early courses, while meat takes centre stage in the main. Vegan cuisine is equally celebrated through a creative and diverse plant-based menu. Guests are welcomed from 6:30 PM, and the shared tasting menu begins at 7:30 PM with an amuse-bouche, followed by elegantly crafted courses. Sommelier Markus Canestrini pairs the dishes with perfectly matched wines from a cellar of over 1,000 labels. The setting is intimate and refined – a culinary experience to remember.
Flavorful, warm, and purely Swabian

REVIEWS
"The secluded, quiet location up here at Staufeneck Castle is wonderful, as is the view of the Fils valley. Head to Burghotel's fine dining restaurant to drink it all in via the large panoramic windows – in fine weather you can even see Stuttgart airport and the TV Tower! Guests take their seats in tasteful and elegantly minimalist surroundings to enjoy professional and charming service courtesy of the Swabian-speaking front-of-house team – yes, this is an authentic regional experience! Rolf Straubinger and his long-time chef de cuisine Markus Waibel impress diners with a modern set menu - really elaborate dishes that are agreeably light and subtle and full of interesting flavour contrasts. Alternatively, try out oifach andersch, which proposes traditional Swabian cuisine that also draws on international influences."
