In the 1930s, this friendly hotel was a tea house, a stopping place for people, horses and carts. From the wooden lookout tower on top of the hill (‘uitkijk’ means ‘lookout’) you could gaze out over the landscape of Salland, with a view stretching far into Germany. Helen and Lars Kijftenbelt offer the same warm hospitality as the guests enjoyed in the olden days, but now in contemporary surroundings. And the view is as beautiful as ever! The hotel is surrounded by nature; you can cycle straight into the woods to enjoy the peace, quiet and gently rolling landscape. The terrace is tempting for a tasty lunch or a leisurely dinner. The decor in the hotel is warm, contemporary and refined, in English country house style. A splendid open fire with comfortable chairs create a homely atmosphere.

The restaurant has been awarded a Michelin Bib Gourmand, the mark of exceptionally good food at moderate prices. Chef Kyrian Kox' menu combines the best flavours of forest and land, wherever possible from the local area: in spring, the famous Salland asparagus, in the autumn, mushrooms picked from the grounds of De Uitkijk. The salmon and trout come from an artisanal fish smokery, which is well worth a visit in itself. The restaurant has a relaxed and warm atmosphere.
