All roads lead to Dinkelsbühl

Dinkelsbühl owes its origin and wealth in the Middle Ages to its geographical location, at the crossroads of two busy trade routes. Centuries later, the Dinkelsbühl/Fichtenau exit on the A7 motorway leads holidaymakers to the renowned 5-star hotel Goldene Rose, Germany's oldest Gaststätte where Queen Victoria once stayed. The historic complex in the Old Town has recently undergone a remarkable makeover and shines brighter than ever.

Hidden gem

There are no more excuses. Whether on a business trip from the Netherlands or Belgium to Munich or traveling with the family for a well-deserved vacation in the Austrian mountains or under the southern sun, it's now wise to plan a stopover near Dinkelsbühl. There are several good reasons for this. Driving is tiring, reduces concentration over time, and increases the risk of an accident. After five hours of driving, a longer rest break is recommended, preferably combined with a healthy lunch at the famous 5-star hotel Goldene Rose in the picturesque center of Dinkelsbühl. It is known as ‘the most beautiful and authentic Old Town in Germany’ and invites you to a fascinating exploration.

The fully walled Old Town offers many historical attractions that recall the glorious medieval past of the trade city at the crossroads of two important trade routes. It's a small miracle that this hidden gem has survived countless wars unscathed and has thus become a highly attractive tourist destination in the shadow of the big cities Stuttgart, Nuremberg, and Munich.

Successful transformation

In the late afternoon, you can enjoy the extensive SPA facilities of the spacious 5-star hotel Goldene Rose, which was awarded ‘the most beautiful urban SPA in Germany’ in London in 2023. The SPA extends over an area of 800 m2 across three floors, with the infinity pool under the historic roof as its absolute highlight. The extensive SPA offering is part of the makeover the renowned hotel underwent during the coronavirus pandemic, designed by the famous architecture firm NOA from Bolzano. Behind the intact historical facade of five half-timbered houses, old has given way to new. Baroque has been subtly and sublimely replaced by elegant simplicity, with sustainability as the central theme of the remarkable transformation, which has been applauded by major lifestyle magazines.

In its new configuration, the Goldene Rose has 43 rooms and 14 suites and studios, with the impressive Queen Victoria suite as the highlight. This nod to the illustrious past of Germany's oldest Gaststätt, with its unique and innovative concept, contemporary decor, and high-end SPA offering, is one of a kind in international hospitality. This explains why this 5-star lifestyle and boutique hotel is not affiliated with a traditional hotel association but with Quality Lodgings, and why chef Dirk Becker does not strive for a mention in the Michelin guide. He serves regional dishes made from fresh, high-quality products and ingredients sourced from local producers. This conscious choice appeals to an increasing number of customers who care about the future of our planet and are not swayed by culinary trends.
