When the guilder was still legal tender in the Netherlands, the maker of the currency - JOH. Enschedé - was named on all bank notes. The building in which Hotel Restaurant ML is housed was formerly the Enschedé family home. For centuries the printing-office and type foundry were also active there. Among other things, the typefaces with which the notes were printed, were made here. During the remodelling, the architect successfully managed to preserve the authenticity of this historic building whilst at the same time creating a special hotel. The rooms are stylish and modern. Some still have original decorations and ornaments. The hotel is situated in the centre of Haarlem, on the beautiful, authentic Klokhuisplein.

Hotel Prinsenhof

De Prinsenhof was founded in 1436 as a monastery for the Brethren of Common Life. Later it became the residence of stadtholder William Frederick of Nassau-Dietz (1613-1664), before being used as barracks and a military hospital. Centrally located in the shadows of the Martini tower, on the edge of the memorable Martini cemetery, Hotel Prinsenhof offers oak wood parquet floors, the finest bed linen and Acqua di Parma toiletries in all its rooms. The abbey church with its imposing hearth currently serves as the hotel’s Grand Café and has a walled terrace at the front. Restaurant Nassau, with its view of the Prinsentuin is housed in the former sleeping quarters of Stadtholder Willem Frederik and his wife Albertine Agnes. Chef Maxime Collard, of La Table de Maxime, opened his second hotel in his native village Our, in the Belgian Ardennes. The modern five storey building is constructed against a hillside. An architectural masterpiece, full of modern subtleties. Its roof is covered in solar panels and the building’s timbered exterior, providing excellent insulation, ages beautifully with time from a rosy orange to a silver grey. The hotel was christened ‘La Fabrique du Pré Maho’, meaning The Factory on Mr. Maho’s Field. The sturdy interior features unpolished wood in the rooms and slate tiles in the bathrooms.
